Job Description

The Government & Media pillar of Informa Tech represents a broad spectrum of industries served, including Manufacturing/Industrial, Physical Security, Healthcare, Critical Communications, Public Safety and Local Government and Smart Infrastructure. This group brings together exciting brands across the event, research and media landscape. Our IWCE Trade show – now in its 45th year – brings together key decision-makers and executives who rely on critical communications to serve our communities and securely run their operations. American City & County has been the go-to media source providing real-world solutions to local and county government leaders for more than 100 years. Our Omdia research organization provides companies and organizations detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis on the scope and the trends affecting their industry. Our valuable, high-quality research is produced through a global team of experienced analysts and consultants.

The Director of Product Management will focus on strategies and programs to enhance current products and expand into new coverage areas. This individual will work closely with customers as well as Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Analysts, as well as with colleagues outside of the pillar to optimize our portfolio and grow our audience in years to come.

As a valued member of the pillar leadership team reporting directly to the VP of the group, The Director of Product Management will understand the key audience and client personas and be responsible for designing products and experiences that are valuable to these personas and profitable to the business. Working closely across all functional teams, the position is responsible for pillar products across the full spectrum of product lifecycle (market opportunity, product design, deliver/enhancements, execution). Foster a customer-centric, data-driven, fast-paced, agile, iterative, test and learn culture.

Key responsibilities:

The Director of Product Management – Government & Media is expected to assume the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required:

  • Owns and develops the strategy, plan, product, roadmap and product success metrics

• Works closely with the Technology Product Delivery team to develop and execute plans to deliver the platform strategy• Develops an approach for continually gathering user feedback (qual and quant research, user panels, etc) aligning with Market Pillar product research activities

  • Works with UX, research and Market Pillar product teams to define user journeys, develop concepts and test prototypes
  • Develops the business case for new products, improvements to existing products and for the underlying tech platforms
  • Determines the monetization strategy for different aspects of the offering
  • Prioritizes product features, manages the backlog and owns the product roadmap (and influence the product roadmap of third-party solutions)
  • Scales strategy, processes, capabilities, products, platforms, changes and so on based on insights, customer value, etc. across Market Pillars and LOBs
  • Monitors the competitor landscape to understand the products and services (digital and non-digital) in customers’ consideration set
  • Interprets competitor, industry and market analysis regarding technology solutions to determine how these could inform product roadmaps
  • Is a subject matter expert and guides, supports, coaches and imparts knowledge to colleagues.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of proven experience within product management, product marketing, or business strategy in industries pertaining to market intelligence. Preference given to candidates with product experience in research/subscription products
  • Ability to acquire domain expertise of markets, products and personas
  • Experience working in an iterative, test-and-learn culture, or helping create that kind of culture
  • Commercial expertise – competence in financial modelling, analytics and marketing
  • Leadership skills – ability to form, lead and develop a cross-functional team and work with a range of stakeholders
  • Is externally focused, and able to demonstrate knowledge of the external market and competitor landscape.
  • Strong in building relationships internally and externally, partnering with colleagues to build and develop the Market Pillar product vision
