SunPower is seeking to hire a Director of Pricing to lead efforts to set the pricing strategy for the Residential Light Commercial business unit. The position will be part of SunPower’s Residential Light Commercial finance team, responsible for developing pricing strategies for SunPower’s solar and storage cash, loan and lease offerings to residential customers. The position will work with our sales organization to understand the competitive pricing landscape and with the internal financial product and FP&A resources to ensure SunPower offerings are priced appropriately to balance top-line sales volumes with company margin targets. You will be at the intersection of our product development, Go-to-Market and financial planning efforts and will be asked to coordinate regularly with other internal departments such as Sales, FP&A, Financial Products, Project Finance, Asset Management, Accounting, Tax and Operational teams. Your work will be highly visible to leadership and be instrumental to driving our growth and profitability.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and drive holistic cash, loan and lease pricing strategy, balancing per unit margin targets with top-line volume targets, to optimize total margin dollars
  • Work with sales team leaders, financial product managers, and project finance team members to collect and analyze competitor pricing and profitability
  • Develop comparative industry analyses and creates competitive assessments
  • Develop customer segmentation approach to pricing and profitability by product, sales channel and geography
  • Coordinate with FP&A team members to ensure forecasted results of pricing changes are reflected in the overall company financial plan
  • Deploy price test methodologies to measure price elasticity of various strategies
  • Work with financial product managers to implement agreed pricing strategies by segment and geography
  • Review and report on volume impacts of pricing moves and analyze short- and long-term margin impacts
  • Establish and own procedures for review and adjustment of pricing strategy, based on changing market landscape
  • Analyze month to month actuals and compare to forecast to identify risks and opportunities and suggest remedies where appropriate
  • Manage projects to ensure initiatives are delivered on-time and on-budget and deliver the required target benefits
  • Act as a key advisor to business development teams to identify and provide guidance on complex pricing strategies and revenue management decisions
  • Lead pricing strategy, ensuring deep expertise and coordinating support for Product Management and Sales leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 10 years combined analysis and pricing experience
  • At least 2 years as the strategic leader of a pricing function
  • Proven experience at collecting and analyzing competitor pricing strategies
  • Able to work both independently as an individual contributor and/or with a direct/indirect staff
  • Comfort in working with different customer acquisition methods such as cash, loan and lease
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing market dynamics
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Energetic and entrepreneurial approach and a strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility to perform and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in finance, business management, economics or similarly related field
  • 2-4 years of sales or product management
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills
  • Proficiency in all other Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Self-motivated and strong work ethic with the ability to proactively manage diverse relationships and multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing company
  • Detail-oriented and capable of driving multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, solar markets and related regulatory issues is a plus, but is not required
  • Based in Austin, Texas
