Palo Alto Security Engineer

Description:

The Palo Alto Security Network Systems Engineer will provide onsite installation, implementation / deployment, configuration, as well as support / troubleshooting relating to NextGen Security Platforms (specifically Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower/FTD).

This person will function as the Fortinet and Palo Alto Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our Professional Services team and will interact directly with our client’s personnel and our project teams and also serve as the technical expert providing technical direction, interpretation, and alternatives.

You would work on moderate to significantly complex technical problems and provide innovative solutions. This is a highly technical, hands-on role and you will be required to develop / maintain an expertise within Fortinet and Palo Alto products / solutions deployed within our customer’s environment.

Requirements:

· 7+ years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying and managing Firewall / Security solutions in complex network environments.

· Specialization in Security and networking technologies.

· Prefer Palo Alto certifications (PCNSE desired) and Fortinet certifications (NSE 1-5). Cisco CCNP a plus.

· Expert knowledge in Network Security with focus on securing the environment, reducing risk, and project delivery.

· Ability to lead projects and support others in the team not as strong in Fortinet and Palo Alto technologies.

· Strong knowledge of Cisco Security solutions / products.

· Minimum of 7 years’ experience with IDS/IPS solutions and technologies.

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering and/or managing security solutions in medium to large environments.

· Extensive knowledge of different security threats.

· Strong understanding of Internet protocols and applications.

· Ability to effectively juggle and manage many different tasks simultaneously.

· Good oral and written communication, customer service, and presentation skills.

· Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

· General Security Best Practices and Procedures.

· BS in Computer Science or equivalent education/training/experience.

Responsibilities:

· Analyze logs and events from the solution and provide threat analysis reports.

· Build custom security policies and application signatures.

· Operate with minimal supervision and be responsible for the network security project delivery.

· Mitigate web-based threats in a timely manner.

· Maintain the NGFW solution and provide guidance on code upgrades, etc.

· Ensure client needs are met and deliverables produced on time according to specified project deliverables/scope.

· Ability to document and template necessary documentation packages for customers as defined.

· Ability to work on a team or lead a team depending upon the specified project.

· Proactively identify gaps, risks and issues and navigate organizational structure to resolve them.

· Be a strong thought leader and clearly communicate and build support for your ideas.

· Ability to provide complex solutions in customer environments and execute/document said solutions by self or as a team leader.

· Other tasks and duties as needed to support the customer and/or business.

· Ability to travel 25% – 50% (nationally) depending on our customer needs.
