Chief Technology Officer

Position Summary

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will have the unique opportunity to join a premier compounding pharmacy and outsourcing facility that delivers innovative pharmaceutical solutions to patients and providers. This senior technology executive will be charged with leading system-wide technology strategy to transform Company into a digital first company, while building a sustainable vision to enable operational excellence, digital alignment, and strategic growth across all Company Pharmacy’s initiatives. The CTO will provide significant impact across all parts of the enterprise as a strategic partner, lead architect, and technical advisor to executive and leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CTO will have responsibility for information technology architecture, strategy and execution, and enterprise-wide technology roadmaps including infrastructure, pharmacy and business applications, and digital platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management of Company ‘s Digital First initiative
  • Accountable for oversight, coordination of overall strategy, architecture, design, deployment, utilization and enhancement of the Company Pharmacy technology environment
  • Establishes current and long-range direction of technology aimed at keeping Company Pharmacy on the forefront of technical efficiency within established or newly developed guidelines
  • Partners with recruiting to identify and source talent to enhance the software development team
  • Directs and procures necessary technology investments in infrastructure, applications, and other system and technology needs
  • Ensures Company Pharmacy information security and protection of technology assets
  • Develops business continuity / disaster management plans and processes
  • Acts as the primary vendor manager and contract owner for IT contracts and is responsible for effective use of technology budget
  • Leads and coordinates development of our infrastructure to ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by systems that enable growth and flexibility
  • Translates business needs into system solutions making maximum use of available tools while ensuring longer term supportability of the architecture
  • Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions
  • Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions
  • Directs operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Produces detailed timelines for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status
  • Directs and prioritizes the workload of subordinate personnel
  • Reviews all designs, code and unit test plans where applicable
  • Approves all business requirements and documents them prior to the technical solution
  • Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts
  • Represents the IT function at customer review meeting when appropriate
  • Performs liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must possess experience in digital transformation projects
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to describe and present complex technical concepts in a non-technical fashion
  • A passion and ability to build and grow an organization to achieve the organization ‘s goals of providing an exceptional customer experience
  • Experience dealing with various levels of internal/external management including operations and executive management
  • Exceptional customer service skills and abilities, professional and tactful negotiator
  • Superior organizational, time and project management skills in managing conflicting priorities
  • Focused and goal-oriented and can work independently with minimal direction
  • Management and leadership of customer service, project management, and technical teams

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor ‘s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related IT field with a Master ‘s degree in relevant field, preferred
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years of IT work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management, and infrastructure planning and operations
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience in managing enterprise technology solutions
  • ITIL and/or PMI certification is preferred
  • Design of B2B and B2B2C UX and architecture is a strong preference
