The Mainframe Architect will work with a larger team who develop a key system in D&B.

The team has responsibility for a complex area in D&B’s Data Supply Chain and a critical part of this is the continuing development and enhancement of IBM mainframe components and systems.

These components and systems play a key role in D&B’s data processing and ultimately the creation of company risk profiles.

The Mainframe Architect will work to implement complex business functionality using the available Mainframe tools and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Mainframe Architect will be responsible for enhancing multiple Mainframe systems.

    This will require the following: Excellent experience and knowledge of Mainframe tools including Integrated Database Management Systems (IDMS) databases, Assemble, SAS scripting, CICS, COBOL, JCL

  • In this role you will:

  • Take ownership of existing mainframe programs by understanding their business rules, functionality and general design
  • Apply strong knowledge of Mainframe design patterns and architectural styles
  • Utilize your ability to clearly describe to a non-technical audience complex software system behavior
  • Influence decisions with your excellent communications abilities with both technical and business stakeholders
  • In addition, the following would be very desirable:

  • Knowledge of AWS public cloud infra, and migration to cloud
  • Experience with IDMS
  • Knowledge of Java or Python
  • Experience working with Data Engineering including ETL tools and databases

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field
  • Excellent experience and knowledge of Mainframe tools including Integrated Database Management Systems (IDMS) databases, Assemble, SAS scripting, CICS, COBOL, JCL
  • Excellent knowledge of Mainframe design patterns and architectural styles
  • Ability to diagnose and fix complex issues in Mainframe systems
  • Understanding of Mainframe integration options and when and how to apply them
  • Experience of working both alone and in an agile team whose members have different skill sets and levels of experience
  • Knowledge and experience of making compromise decisions that need to balance business and technical concerns.
