Quality Assurance Nurse /Infection Preventionist

Monday – Friday 8A-5PPlus Call RotationDescription:Performs evaluation of nursing service areas in order to drive systematic improvements through QAPI. Works with QAPI team leaders to develop measurable terms to evaluate performance and quality of care. In collaboration with Director of Nurses uses evaluations to plan, supervise, direct and re-evaluate nursing care according to BCS policies and procedures. Implement strategies to prevent the spread of infection.Essential Functions of Job:* Provides leadership and staff development while maintaining all regulatory requirements. (constantly)* Work with QAPI team leaders and nursing department to develop reports for the evaluation of performance and quality. (occasionally)* Makes regular rounds through The Ware at Park Central to assess and ensure quality of services provided and ensure environmental compliance. (frequently)* Evaluates nursing services, including but not limited to infection control, weight management, skin and wound care, and incidents and accidents, on a monthly or as needed basis, using measurable criteria. (constantly)* Identify and implement steps necessary for infection surveillances, antibiotic stewardship, investigating, tracking, and reporting infections. (frequently)* Communicate trends with Director of Nursing, Administrator and appropriate QAPI team leaders. (frequently)* Maintain wound protocols. (frequently)* Oversee staff for correct wound documentation and care. (constantly)* Create and generate reports using electronic medical records and other relevant data for Nursing Services QAPI Committees and PIP’s. (occasionally)* Develops effective communication with nursing and ancillary departments to incorporate QAPI and infection control principles in policies and procedures in order to provide a safe environment for residents, families and staff members. (frequently)* Maintains flexibility to serve on teams, committees or individually as QAPI/Infection Preventionist representative. (frequently)* Participate in Nurse Manager call rotation. (occasionally)* Must be able to commit the time necessary from an attendance and punctuality standpoint to accomplish the above specified Essentials of Job. (constantly)Contributes to the ongoing process of establishing and meeting departmental and BCS goals and objectives. Participates in utilizing customer feedback to measure and improve effectiveness of service level. Promote superior customer service.Education:That required for licensure in the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of two years previous experience in Geriatric Long-Term Care and/or supervisory experience. Must be able to read, speak and write English. Must maintain an active full status Registered Nursing license in the State of Texas, must meet all continuing education requirements to maintain State licensure, and must have Cardiopulmonary (CPR) Certification. Must complete the Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training Course and additional training as deemed necessary.Skills:Ability to work independently and coordinate/implement/manage projects concurrently in an unstructured environment. Interpersonal skills ability to analyze and independently resolve complex problems. Leadership skills exhibit the ability to guide, direct and motivate the staff. Ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement programs, processes and procedures in compliance with standards.Physical / Special Demands:1. Prepare and assess reports.2. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. or more with assistance, occasionally; 50 lbs., frequently; 25 lbs., constantly.3. Must be able to position self to reach floor level to six feet from the floor.4. Move throughout the facility.5. Legible handwriting for documentation.6. Aural acuity to respond to elders, staff, and customers.7. Must be able to push/pull 200 lbs. Position elders in bed, transfers elders to and from wheelchair. Assist with ambulation and transfers.8. Grasps, lifts, holds, and moves up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
