Arm: Senior Design Engineer

About the roleWe are searching for a talented Verification Engineer to join the Verification Enablement team at the Arm Austin Design Center.

As a Verification Engineer on our team, you will develop and deploy Random Instruction Stream (RIS)-based verification solutions using Raven a proprietary dynamic random test generator used extensively by CPU design teams throughout the Arm ecosystem.

You will develop and extend Raven-based tools to support the latest innovations in CPU architecture and microarchitecture and collaborate with senior members of processor design verification teams both inside and outside of Arm to define and develop new ways of achieving their verification goals.The Verification Enablement team is part of Arms Architecture & Technology Group the part of Arm that develops architectural specifications as well as technologies to support Arm partners development of processors conforming to the architecture.

In addition to our product for CPU verification groups, we also collaborate early and frequently with Arms architects to help ensure that new architectures can be verified effectively.As a member of our team, your day-to-day work will consist primarily of designing and developing random Raven-based tests to verify and stress Arm architecure CPU designs and supporting partners and coworkers to solve verification problems.

This work will rely heavily upon your knowledge of computer architecture and ability to read and understand new architectural specifications.

If you are looking for an environment in which to make a significant contribution, collaborate with a talented and creative team, and develop leading-edge verification technologies, we look forward to hearing from youResponsibilitiesCreate strategies to improve the scope and reach of our testing methodologiesWork with design and verification teams to define testing scenarios and develop tests to cover those scenariosContribute ideas to improve the Raven productDesign and develop test templates to use with the Raven random test generator to exercise and stress architectural and microarchitectural features of Arm architecture CPU designsDefine test plans to verify new architectural and microarchitectural features of Arm architecture CPU designsWhat skills, experience and qualifications do I need?Essential:Bachelors or masters degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant technical disciplineAt least 2 years of professional working experience in CPU design/verificationSolid understanding of computer architectureExperience in writing/debugging assembly-based testsExperience with scripting languages (preferably Python or Perl)Experience with a hardware verification language (System Verilog)Strong written and verbal communication skillsDesirable:Experience with instruction driven verification of processors based on CPU Assembly or C/C++Experience with Arm architecturePreferred Qualifications Professional working experience working with microprocessor architecture, random test generators, and complex software A Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Advanced CPU microarchitecture knowledge, including areas such as out-of-order execution, register renaming, reservation stations, etc.
